Verizon Foundation Awards Self Reliance

Self Reliance received funding from the Verizon Foundation to establish a model computer resource lab for individuals with disabilities in Hillsborough County. The lab contains workstations accessible for people who use wheelchairs, along with adaptive technology for other disabilities. Screen readers for people with visual disabilities and adaptive devices for the deaf and hard of hearing are also available. The lab affords the opportunity for people with disabilities to learn computer and typing skills, search the internet, look for employment, and work at their own pace while locating valuable community resources needed for independence. The lab and resource center is open to the public during Self Reliance’s business hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Friday. It is suggested that you call 813-375-3965 to insure Self Reliance is open and the lab is available. All persons using the lab are required to sign a user agreement.
