Publix Supermarket Charities Enhances Independence Publix Super Markets Charities has donated funds to Self Reliance to provide home modifications for persons with disabilities in east-south Hillsborough County. Thanks to Publix individuals continue to have access in their homes. It is the goal of Publix to improve life in communities where they have supermarkets. Household Mortgage Self Reliance sends a huge Thank you to the employees of Household Mortgage Services in Brandon for your generous donation to our center. You have enhanced the lives of many persons with disabilities and provided a means of independence. Your donation will assist both children and adults with disabilities in this county. Verizon Foundation Awards Self Reliance Self Reliance received funding from the Verizon Foundation to establish a model computer resource lab for individuals with disabilities in Hillsborough County. The lab will contain workstations accessible for those in wheelchairs, along with adaptive technology for various disabilities. Screen readers for the visual impaired and adaptive devices for the deaf and hearing impaired will be a part of Independence Lab. Individuals will be able to learn computer and typing skills, search the internet, look for employment, and work at your own pace while locating valuable community resources needed for independence.
