In the ongoing effort to enable consumers to remain in their homes it is often necessary to make modifications to bathrooms, doorways and provide access with temporary or permanent ramps. Often times a shower, bathtub, sink or kitchen counter is not accessible limiting a person's ability to be independent in their own home. Simple modifications can mean the difference between a consumer remaining in their own home or moving to a nursing home.
Barrier removal/home modifications funding is provided through Grants that have income, asset, residency as well as other requirements and limitations. Hillsborough County Affordable Housing Program and the City of Tampa Community Development Office fund the home modification/barrier removal program. Consumers must meet the requirements set forth in the different Grants from the County and City.
